How to Repair & Restore a Photo that’s torn into many pieces in Photoshop on iPad Pro

In this article, I start by first explaining how to scan the pieces of the photo.

Scanning the Pieces of the Photo
Copy the Pieces onto Seperate Layers
Move each Piece into Position
Crop to Resize
Repair & Restore Tears & Blemishes
Add Ajustment Layers (Black & White)
Add Adustment Layer (Levels)
Add Adjustment Layer Brightness & Contrast
Complete the Restoration and Blend mode
Scanning the Pieces of the Photo
Start by laying out all the pieces of the photo for ready for scanning.
Using a flatbed scanner.
You can scan each individual piece and save it or scan all the pieces together.
If you choose to scan them altogether. You will still have to separate the pieces afterwards to put them onto a seperate layer.
Scan the pieces at 300 DPI in colour, even it the photo is a black & white image this enable you to adjust all the levels.
Copy the Pieces onto Seperate Layers
If you chose to scan all the pieces together then you will have to seperate them and save then to individual layers.
Using the quick selection too. Select each piece and copy the selection. Choose New Layer and paste the selection to the new layer.
Continue to work through all the pieces until they're all saved to a new seperate layer.
Move each Piece into Position
Select each piece making sure you are on the correct layer and the move tool.
Move each piece into position, lining them up.
Crop to Resize
Once all the pieces are in position. Crop to resize the image using the crop tool.
Repair & Restore Tears & Blemishes
Using the Spot Healing tool and the Clone Stamp, clean up all the blemishes and reair the joins of the tear.
Painting in any missing pieces.
Add Adjustment Layers (Black & White)
Adding a (black and white) adjustment layer restores the faded black & white.
Add Adjustment Layer (Levels)
Adding a Levels adjustment layer to correct the levels of light and exposure
Add Adjustment Layer Brightness & Contrast
Adding a Brighness & Contrast layer to correct the brightness and contrast
Complete the Restoration and Blend mode
Try different blend modes to complete the look of the restoration
